Why start a blog?
A few years ago my life changed drastically, and it really made me re-evaluate my life. I was reading a book one day and thought, “Geez, this is awful. I’m sure I could write better than this.” And thus began my 4+ year long journey in finding out just how hard it really is to try to write a novel π
All jokes aside, it made me realize my passion for writing, blogging, and creating content in general. Now, I’m working on creating unique and fun content for you!
What’s this blog about?
Just Jess G covers a variety of topics: natural living & overall wellness, essential oils, recipes (both healthier AND also comfort foods – because Balance), the keto / low carb diet, pets (okay, so mainly dogs), products I use & love.
Wellness is a new topic in 2023 for me. I’m no spring chicken, & I don’t think I’ve even remotely treated my body like a temple in all the years I’ve been alive. Therefore, hitting mid-30’s has opened my eyes to a heavy dose of reality – it’s time to start taking care of my health, de-toxifying my body & my life, & living well.
So, welcome to the wellness journey!
What about those recipes?
Undoubtedly, my first inspiration for this blog came from none other than my real first love: Food. I LOVE putting together new recipes and discovering new foods.
Back in my early days of learning how to cook (which was like 10 years ago TBH…before that, my best dish was a classy grilled cheese), I’d get so aggravated scrolling, and scrolling, AND SCROLLING through a recipe post, only to find the ingredients / instructions at the VERY BOTTOM of the page.
That’s why I’m not going to do that to you, my friend.
Here’s the deal: my recipe cards are going to be easy to find, and a very short scroll from the top of the post. And I’m not going to throw a ton of random fluff in the posts either. Why? Because ain’t nobody got time for that when you’re hangry.
You’ll notice that some are keto or low carb approved, while others are not. That’s because hey – sometimes you need some comfort food every so often to keep you from completely falling off the wagon.
