This Creamy Salsa Dip Recipe is super easy to make, yet SO GOOD! It’s my go-to dip with so many foods, and it’s one that won’t break the bank to make.
I threw this concoction together one night when I was dreaming of Mexi-ranch dip, but I was out of ranch (sad day, I know). Now I make this dip at least once a week!
What are the 3 Ingredients in Creamy Salsa Dip?
Here are the big hitters in this recipe:
- Salsa (shocking, right?)
- Sour Cream, &
- Taco Sauce
I’m sure you’ll have at least two of these ingredients hanging around in your kitchen, and 2 out of 3 isn’t too bad. If you don’t have taco sauce, don’t worry – you can still get a decent dip out of just the salsa & sour cream!

Recipe Notes
This Creamy Salsa Dip is pretty basic, but here are some important recipe notes you may want to check out:
What kind of salsa to use:
- I often use store bought mild chunky salsa from Aldi or Schnucks because I’m not into mega spicy foods.
- If you like your salsa a bit spicier, go for the medium or hot salsa (Godspeed).
- Additionally, if you’d rather use homemade salsa, go ahead! It will probably taste a million times better than store bought.
What kind of sour cream to use:
- I use regular sour cream, and I alternate between generic brands and Daisy brand. While I think the Daisy brand is a little smoother, generic sour cream works just fine.
- If you’d rather use light sour cream, go ahead – just know that it won’t taste as rich as regular sour cream.
All about the taco sauce:
- I use the Ortega brand medium taco sauce. It’s got a little bit of a kick to it, but it’s not so spicy that my mouth ends up on fire.
- You can use any taco sauce that you want!
- Also, I often use a little more than a teaspoon of taco sauce when I make this dip. Sometimes it’s more in the area of a tablespoon or so. So if you add in a teaspoon and the dip seems a bit bland, keep adding in the taco sauce little by little until you hit the flavor you’re looking for.
